Operation Legend: Update on federal charges

On September 4, 2020, Robert J. Bell, DEA Special Agent in Charge, Chicago Division, announced that on July 8, 2020, U.S. Attorney Matthew D. Krueger joined Attorney General William P. Barr in announcing the launch of Operation Legend, a sustained, systematic and coordinated law enforcement initiative in which federal law enforcement agencies work in conjunction with state and local law enforcement officials to fight violent crime.

Man sentenced to 30 years for meth distribution

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – A Blue Springs, Missouri, man was sentenced in federal court today for his role in a conspiracy to distribute large quantities of methamphetamine in southwest Missouri.

Neal A. Norles, 31, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Roseann Ketchmark to 30 years in federal prison without parole.

On Sept. 5, 2019, Norles pleaded guilty to possessing methamphetamine with the intent to distribute.

Member of Paterson drug ring charged with conspiracy to distribute heroin and fentanyl

NEWARK, N.J. – Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration’s New Jersey Division, Susan A. Gibson, and U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey, Craig Carpenito, announced a Paterson, New Jersey, woman was arrested today in connection with her alleged role in a conspiracy to distribute heroin and fentanyl in New Jersey and Vermont.

Eighth person sentenced as a result of major black market marijuana investigation

DENVER, Colo. – Special Agent in Charge Deanne Reuter in conjunction with U.S. Attorney Jason R. Dunn announced today that Fudong Wu, 40, of Aurora, and a Chinese national and legal permanent resident of the United States, was sentenced to serve 15 months in federal prison, followed by two years on supervised release, for maintaining a drug-involved premises. Wu appeared at the sentencing hearing remotely. Wu will voluntarily surrender to the U.S.

Kansas City, Kansas, defendants sentenced to 20 years in meth lab fire

KANSAS CITY, KAN. – Two defendants who were arrested after their meth lab caught fire were sentenced today to federal prison.

Orlando Cortez-Nieto, 43, and Jesus Cervantes-Aguiler, 23, both of Kansas City, Kan., were sentenced to 20 years each.

During a jury trial in July 2019, the defendants were convicted on charges including conspiracy and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.

Texas man who ran Kansas City drug ring sentenced to 21 years

KANSAS CITY, KAN. – A Texas man who oversaw a drug ring in the Kansas City metro area was sentenced Wednesday to 262 months in federal prison in a case investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration St. Louis Division, Kansas City District Office.

Jorge Portillo-Uranga, 36, Teague, Texas, pleaded guilty to seven felony counts, including conspiracy, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, and using a telephone in furtherance of drug trafficking.

Federal jury convicts two men of cocaine conspiracy spanning from Houston to Buffalo

,strong>BUFFALO, N.Y. U.S. Attorney James P. Kennedy, Jr. and U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration Special Agent in Charge Ray Donovan, New York Division announced today that following a two week trial, a federal jury has convicted Henry Lloyd, 34, and Roman Dunnigan, 41, both of Buffalo, NY, of conspiracy to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine. Lloyd faces a mandatory minimum penalty of 10 years in prison, and a maximum of 40 years, while Dunnigan faces a mandatory minimum penalty of five years in prison and a maximum of 40 years.

Union County woman sentenced to 10 years in prison for trafficking methamphetamine

NEWARK, N.J. – Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration’s New Jersey Division, Susan A. Gibson, and U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey, Craig Carpenito, announced a Union County, New Jersey, woman was sentenced today to 120 months in prison for possessing with intent to distribute over 900 grams of methamphetamine.
